How to use a gua sha: a simple 5-minute routine

A gua sha is a smooth, flat stone that you glide over your skin. It is a calm, relaxing moment in your routine. Here is a simple way to start.

Before you start

  • Start with clean skin.
  • Apply a few drops of facial oil or a rich serum, so the stone glides instead of pulling.
  • Hold the stone almost flat against your skin, at an angle of about 15 degrees.

The 5-minute routine

  1. Neck (1 minute): glide from just under your jaw down towards your collarbone, a few times on each side.
  2. Jawline (1 minute): use the notched edge and glide from your chin along your jawline towards your ear.
  3. Cheeks (1 minute): glide from beside your nose outwards towards your ear.
  4. Under the eyes (1 minute): use very light pressure and glide from the inner corner outwards.
  5. Forehead (1 minute): glide from your eyebrows up towards your hairline.

How much pressure?

Light to medium. It should feel pleasant, never painful. Always use very gentle pressure around the eyes.

Cleaning your stone

Rinse it with lukewarm water and a little mild soap after use and dry it with a soft cloth. Natural stone can break if you drop it, so store it somewhere safe.

Which shape?

The Ordeno Glow Stone comes in three rose quartz shapes. The classic shape is the easiest to start with; the heart and butterfly shapes have different curves for your jawline and cheeks. Do not use a gua sha on broken or irritated skin.
